Total combat yawara-jitsu is a sport variety that allow those who practice it to use their knowledge in a safe, practical and overwhelming way. Its main objective is prepare the pupil for a possible real aggression.
Development

The confrontation consists of two periods of three minutes each, separated by a minute break. In the first round, only hits and sweeps without holding the opponent are allowed. In the second round are also allowed projections, sweeps , torns and strangles .
Hits And Techniques Allowed

In the first round are allowed all the hits with the fits, hands and elbows in the protective padding and in the helmet. With the legs, all kind of kicks and hits with the knees on the protective padding are allowed. On the helmet all kind of circular kicks are allowed, being banned frontal and lateral kicks on the head. Low-kicks in the external part of the thighs are also allowed. In the second round, all hits on the protective padding are allowed and low-kicks in the external part of the thighs, but hitting on the head is forbidden. All shoulder and hip projections, leg throws and sweeps are allowed. Due to the possible risk of cervical damage, any projections that hold only the neck are forbidden. Strangles in which there is a bone contact and without pulling are allowed. You can make any kind of torn to the fingers, elbows, shoulders, hip, knees or ankles.
Uniforms And Protections

Total Combat, as well as in Katas and in self-defence, will be done with the standarised uniform: white jacket with the corresponding emblem, black trousers and a belt. Safety standards for the first period are: elbow patches, forearm and gloves closed (boxing kind 8 to 10 oz.) in the arms. Knee guards, tibias and boots closed (full-contact kind) in the legs. Protective padding and a closed helmet with a transparent mask. For the second round, there is no helmet and gloves are changed to allow holding.
Refereing And Scoring

The combat is guided by a central judge, who is the responsible of checking the uniforms and the correct placement of protections, starting and stopping the combat when required, as well as warning the competitors when they do not follow the rules.
The three corner referees will be in charge of writing down the points in the two rounds, giving the result to the central judge who will, once the combat is over, rise the winner´s hand.
The combat can be won by points (as mentioned above), by retirement (due to a injury or after a torn or strangulation), by superiority or disqualification.
